Product Information
Product Description
Chrome-6 Neutralizer is an acid-based, biodegradable neutralization liquid for the conversion of harmful chromium-6 to harmless chromium-3. This product can be used to combat source-specific chromium-6.
Sustainable Solution
Chrome-6 Neutralizer converts chromium-6 to harmless chromium-3. Because the acidic product reacts and the dust is simultaneously wetted, the concentration of chromium-6 dust will be drastically reduced.
In combustion engines, the build-up of chromium-6 dust is often present under the insulation parts where stainless steel (inox) parts are also used. The prolonged heat produces chromium-6 from the stainless steel, often recognizable by dust with a yellow colour. Spraying with Chrome-6 Neutralizer converts chromium-6 to chromium-3 and also prevents dust absorption into the air.
Special Benefits
Chromium-6 is converted to chromium-3 and therefore from a carcinogenic powder to a 'harmless' substance
The liquid character prevents further dust dispersion
Completely biodegradable
Significantly reduces the exposure risk
Helps an employer to comply with the obligation to tackle source-oriented carcinogens
Easy to apply: ready-to-use: can be applied directly from the spray bottle
Suitable for non-acid-sensitive surfaces; otherwise first test for resistance
Free from transport and CLP labeling, so easy to transport, store,e and use
Areas of Application
Chrome-6 Neutralizer can be used in industry to combat chromium-6 (dust), where exposure can occur during maintenance and overhaul of:
CHPs (combined heat and power) are used by horticulturists for heat and CO2 in greenhouses, but also to supply electricity. Prolonged heating of the stainless steel in the insulation parts increases the risk of chromium-6 dust being formed. This also applies to:
Marine engines
Diesel engines
Gas turbines
Solution Areas
Chromium-6 is classified as a carcinogen and therefore carcinogenic.
The limit value of chromium-6 is very low and therefore has a high exposure risk.
Chromium-6 dust is released when stainless steel (inox) is heated over extended periods, such as with combustion engines, gas turbines, CHPs, etc.
Maintenance and overhaul of such systems therefore requires additional protective measures.
Chromium-6 also occurs in paint and preservation systems and is released during processing. This product is not suitable for use on chrome paint.
Dust spreads easily through poorly ventilated areas, increasing the risk of exposure
FAQ
Q. Can I use Chrome VI Neutralizer on heated machine parts?
A. Chrome-6 Neutralizer works most effectively on machine parts at ambient room temperature
Q. How long after application does Chrome 6 Neutralizer become effective?
A. Chrome-6 Neutralizer becomes fully effective after 15 minutes
Q. What is the shelf live of Chrome 6 Neutralizer
A. The product has a shelf-life of at least one year, as indicated on the label.
Q. Is Chrome 6 Neutralizer corrosive to stainless steel?
A. No, it is not corrosive. The product has a mild acidic character but typically does not affect stainless steel.
Q. Is PPE required when using Chrome 6 Neutraliser?
A. Yes, due to the exposure to Chromium VI protective gloves and eye protection are recommended. Respiratory protection (e.g., class P3) and protective clothing are also advised.
