Chrome-6 Swab Test Kit for Insulation, Turbine & CHP Engines.

This Chromium-6 Swab Test is designed as an on-site first indication to detect Hexavalent Chromium in high-temperature insulation materials, turbines and CHP engines.

This test is designed to provide a fast test result but is only indicative in case of a negative test result. To ensure thorough confirmation we recommend testing in combination with the SEEF TK01 – Chromium-6 Test Kit.

When the test is positive, you can assume Chromium-6 is present, but this remains an indication only. For a definitive and reliable result, we always recommend laboratory analysis. This provides certainty about the presence of Chromium-6, and makes it possible to measure and quantify the reliable amount.

What is in the ST01 – Cr(VI) Swab Test Kit?

• 30 Test Sticks: Easy-to-use test sticks for hard-to-reach areas.
• 1 bottle of test solution: Specially formulated for rapid detection of chromium-6.
• 1 control ring: To check the operation of the test rods, thereby increasing the reliability of the results.

Important information about reliability

This test has been specifically developed for calcium and sodium chromate, where speed on site is essential to ensure safety. Cr(VI) formation in insulation occurs when chromium-containing materials such as Stainless Steel come into contact with calcium-containing insulation materials under high temperatures. For example, the turbo on a CHP engine or ship engine. The combination of heat, oxygen and the chemical composition of the insulation material can lead to oxidation of chromium-3 (Cr(III)) to chromium-6 (Cr(VI)).
